About Trinidad & Tobago

GEOGRAPHY

Trinidad and Tobago is located at 10 degrees 41 minutes north latitude, 61 degrees 35 minutes west longitude. These two jewels of the Caribbean are the most southerly isles of the Caribbean chain. At the closest point, the north-west tip of Trinidad and the north-easterly tip of Venezuela are only seven miles apart.

Trinidad is approximately 1,864 square miles while its sister isle Tobago is 116 square miles. The capital of Trinidad is Port of Spain while the capital of Tobago is Scarborough.

CURRENCY

The currency used in Trinidad and Tobago is the TT dollar. However, US dollars and credit cards are widely accepted.

CLIMATE

Trinidad and Tobago has two seasons, a wet season and a dry season. The dry season extends from January to May while the wet season lasts from June to December. Our average temperature is 32 degrees Celsius.

CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION

Cruising yachts must clear Trinidad or Tobago Customs & Immigration when they arrive. This can be done in Trinidad at the Chaguaramas outpost station, or in Tobago at the Scarborough station.
